Law Abiding Citizen
Living here in Germany, I tend to find out about some things late. Knowing about the new releases at the box office is one of them. So it's not surprising (to me, anyway) that I missed the trailers and info about this movie. It was brought to my attention on the Romance Divas forum, where one of the divas raved about it. I've been a Gerard Butler fan since P.S. I Love You, so the fact he was in it (and the shot of his behind) was enough for me to add it to my Netflix queue and move it to the top. I'm so glad I did.
This movie rocks. And not just because of Butler, though his performance was incredible. He's very cute and funny in his comedic roles, but wow, his intense portrayal of a man seeking justice and the lengths that he would go through to get them was…intense.
The movie opens up with a home invasion and Clyde's (Butler) wife and daughter are killed. They catch the men, but the ADA (Jamie Foxx, whose is also wonderful in this movie) doesn't want to take the chance that he'll lose in court, so he makes a plea bargain. Clyde feels betrayed by the system. Fast forward 10 years and the killer is released from prison. He ends up dead, and Clyde is put in jail for it. Then other people involved in the case start dying.
I don't want to say too much more. I don't want to spoil the plot if you haven't seen it. Suffice it to say, you won't see the twist coming. I can usually figure the turns in a plot before they happen, but this one actually surprised me. In a good way. If you haven't seen it, I can't recommend it enough. Oh, and hubby was a bit skeptical when we sat down to watch it but about 10-15 minutes into the movie, he was hooked, too.
Have you seen this movie? What did you think? If you haven't seen it, do you plan to?
Y'all have a great weekend!

I've seen the previews and I've been dying to see the movie. I'm a big Gerard Butler fan.
Loved the movie! But I'll admit I had to close my eyes and cover my ears a few times early on because my stomach got queasy. I felt really sorry for Gerard Butler's character and even though he took things too far, I became almost as blood thirsty as he was, cheering him on and wanting him to get away. On the other hand, Jamie Fox's character was arrogant and made me angry and yeah, he won in the end and seemed like the hero, but I don't think he felt he'd done anything wrong to deserve the win. They were both good and both bad. But hey, maybe I like Gerard's character better because he was Gerard. That man could be bad with me any time!
I've been a Gerard Butler fan forever and wanted to see this movie just because he was in it. I loved the movie. It was just a damn good movie.
I'll have to check this out. Thanks!
Definitely check it out. It's such a great movie, especially with your honey.
Darah, I hope you didn't close your eyes when they showed his butt! LOL
Yes, Casey, me too. I got for Butler but it was such an awesome flick.
I watched this movie Thursday afternoon with my son. Wow! The plot had some great twists, and the acting was great. Even if you're not into psychological thrillers, this is worth watching to see how the plot sets up and unravels.
