I'm an internet junkie. I admit it. I'm constantly checking email. I mean, who knows what kind of important stuff I might miss out on. I'm a member of several writers' loops and they are pretty busy. If I miss a day there, it takes a long time to get caught back up. I follow quite a few blogs, both writers and agents.
Do I need all this? Probably not, but I get so much from the writers' loops. Business-wise and personal. So I'm not willing to give those up. Email? You're kidding, right? Anyway, after I posted my blog post yesterday, I went internet-free for the rest of the day. Really.
I finished my pages, but that was done on my AlphaSmart. Less distraction that way. Then I worked on my crochet project for the rest of the day. You see, I started this project as a gift for my friend for her birthday. On February 21. Needless to say, I'm late. I'm hoping the gift itself will make up for the tardiness.
With the end almost in sight, I decided to finish the assembly yesterday. I was so close, yet it still took me all afternoon and evening. I had determined that I wouldn't go to bed until it was all put together. So it was about midnight before I laid my head down. It's gorgeous, though. Totally worth all the work. I just need to put the finished touch around the edge and it's ready to be shipped to the States. I'll post a picture once she receives it.
As a result of my immersion in this project, I never made it back to check email or loops or blogs (sorry guys, I'll get caught up on that tonight) or anything else. And it was OKAY. Really, all my emails are still in my inbox, waiting on me. All the new messages in my loops are still there. All the blogs I follow. Yep, you guessed it. Still there.
So, yesterday was a nice departure from my normal electronic existence. I don't plan to do it often because, really, I have the patience of a gnat and I'm nosy. But it's nice to disconnect every once in a while.

We went to Jackpot over the weekend. I have to admit, I loved not having to check my sites. I try to limit myself to an hour a day. I work in an office all day where I have to pull up info all the time, so doing it at home also is overkill. Too much info.
Can't do it. The only way I'll give up the internet is if my provider is down. I'm totally hooked.
Since I got my Blackberry I'm wired all the time. I can't check blogs and stuff (too much trouble to load) but all my emails, FB, a local news outlet; they are all available whereever I am so I'm rarely unplugged. I've even sprinted with the gang while out of the house and no wifi available; I just used AIM on the phone! It worked until my laptop ran out of battery :)
