Welcome to the Social Network Revolution

I've finally succumbed. Last year, I joined Facebook when I moved overseas to Germany. I told myself it would be the best way to keep up with family and friends. And I did. For about three months, I went to Facebook everyday. I even played with some of their applications. I found out that was a big time suck.

Now my visits to Facebook are infrequent, though I'm trying to remedy that. I started a fan page there. That was pretty cool. If you want to fan me, you can find me at http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Riley-Quinn/221823930058. I would love to see you there. I'll be posting updates about my writing there.

This year, I've added a Twitter account (RileyQuinn) and now this blog. I'm learning how to tweet effectively, thanks to my friend, Flicka. I'm making it one of my goals to follow through with my ventures. I hope you'll join me; it will keep me honest. ;)

Here I'll be talking about writing, life in Europe as an American, and just about anything else that piques my interest.

So what about you? Are you part of the Social Network Revolution? Which programs do you use? What do you like about them?

Congrats on your new blog. I lived in Germany in the 80s and boy would it have been nice to have internet. I could have saved a lot of money on overseas calls. I smiled at your revelation from your workshop with M.R. Sellars and actually having to write. That was the exact message I got from my first conference. It makes a big difference when you actually have something to ply all the great information and techniques to. Again, congrats on your blog.

Hi Riley! Glad you took the plunge. I'll visit you every day and keep you 'honest'. You'll have to do the same with me on Twitter cause I've failed to see the point so far :) rachellynne1015 when I figure out how to add people I'll tweet ya!
I agree about Facebook. I have two accounts and my personal one gets hit with messages from my friends and family wondering if I've fallen off the face of the Earth! Just too time consuming. I try to post there once a week but none of them will visit my blog and that is where I'm leaving all my,hopefully intersting, tidbits!

Talk to ya soon,
Rach

Boone, where in Germany did you live? Yeah, amazing that writer actually has to write, hmm?

Rachel, I've tweeted more today than I have since I started the account months ago! I enjoy your tidbits.

Thanks for stopping by!

I use Facebook, Twitter, my blog and personal forum, as well as the forum/blogs of my publishers.

I enjoy the interaction on the forums and through FB and Twitter. I might be a FarmVille addict. Twitter also is a huge time suck. lol

LOL, Hailey. Hubby is a huge Farmville addict too. He keeps pressuring me to be a neighbor but so far, I've resisted. Thanks for stopping by.

I don't know how you do it, Julie. Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Riley!

Congrats on the blog. I'm equally as new to the blog world and I'm slowly becoming an addict. Twitter is my next step! I'll add you to my blog list and look for you on Twitter.

Have fun!

Welcome to cyber world, Riley! I've had a blog for a while and joined Facebook last August after my high school reunion. Both can be HUGE time sucks if you're not careful.

Fellow member of FF&P here! I have not heard a good enough argument to twitter, yet. I try to visit Facebook once a day, but I am so busy writing THE NEXT GREAT NOVEL some things get shoved to the back. I do have 2 websites (under my name and my pen name) and a blog. Good luck!

I'll add you to my blogroll.

I had Tweetdeck running yesterday. It can be distracting to have all those pop ups throughout the day. I'll have to watch that.

My high school reunion was last year too, Lexi, though I didn't make it. But it brought a lot of my fellow classmates out and I got to reconnect with some of them that way.

Thanks for stopping by!

I'm glad the twitter guide was a help! Now I just need to manage to twitter regularly myself...

As you know, I blog (Wordpress) and I'm on Facebook. I used to have a MySpace too, but it sort of feels like that platform died.

Mostly I have two accouints of everything, one personal and one for my writing career, so I have 2 twitters, 2 Facebooks etc. Except for blogs. I have several of those swirling about. I've used Blogger, Wordpress and Tumblr. The last is cute, but more like an online scrapbook than a real blog too me.
