Goodies Galore!

First things first. Thank you J.K Beck for stopping by and thank you to all who stopped by and left a comment on Friday. As promised, 3 lucky commenters will be receiving a copy of her new book, When Blood Calls. It is awesome!

The random number generator at www.random.org has chosen PL Parker, Cheryl Rae and Gale Stanley. If you would email your mailing address to me at riley@riley-quinn.com, I will get these lovelies out in the mail for you.

How about more goodies to give away? Remember last week that I mentioned Blogmania was coming up? It happens this week on Wednesday and Thursday, September 15 & 16. Saturday, I hopped over to Bayreuth to pick up the last piece of my giveaway for this awesome event.

I know I’ve mentioned that I’m basing the prize pack on my novel, Out of the Shadows. I’ve hinted here and there, but today you get to see what you’re trying to win.

I’m calling it my Love with a Bite Paranormal Romance Prize Pack.

First, a plush, so so soft stuffed wolf. Gabe, my hero, is a wolf shifter.

Wolves are equated with the moon, right? So how about some moonstone earrings. These beauties are handmade by Regina McGearty at Walk on the Moon. She even added a copper colored crystal for each one to signify my heroine, Belle the Fire Witch.

Next, I’ve got two candles from Colonial Candles. I searched for the scents that match Gabe and Belle and while I didn’t get it exactly, I came pretty close. There is one Tibetan Sandalwood and one French lavender. Mmm, they smell yummy.

Last but not least, I’ve got to add books! As I did with my last Blogmania giveaway, I chose books written by my chapter mates in the Austin chapter and of course, they are paranormals.

Taming of the Wolf – this is an anthology from The Wild Rose Press and features the story, Blood Moon, written by my good friend and critique partner, Autumn Shelley.

When Blood Calls – You know this one. I’ve reviewed it here and we just had J.K. Beck here. Here’s another chance to get your hands on it.

And Falling, Fly – This is the debut novel of Skylar White.

My close-up of the earrings didn't turn out. This is the pic from the seller's website. Copper crystals at the bottom are the only difference. They're beautiful.

Great prize, right? All this adds up to over $100. All you have to do to be in the running is follow my blog and join my Facebook fan page. To follow my blog, go to the Follow button in the right-hand column and it will walk you through. To join my fan page, go here and click that you Like it.

You can do both of these steps early, if you want and then on those two days, either post a comment stating your Facebook name or if you’d rather, email me at riley@riley-quinn.com and tell me both your Facebook name and your blogger ID.

On Friday, I’ll use the random number generator again and post the winner on Monday, September 20.

What do you think? A prize worth winning?

What’s on my mind today

Yesterday was just one of those days. Hubby went in to work late, so he threw off my morning routine. Since I worked the part time job ALL DAY yesterday, the morning is when I would have normally posted on my blog. Yeah, didn't happen. Then I didn't get home until after 7, cooked dinner, tired with no motivation. You get the picture. So I was a bad girl.

I had hoped to have my revisions done and to my critique partners yesterday. Didn't happen. So today, I'm working all day, like a fiend, to finish up. I'll be crafting my synopsis this weekend on a long bus ride. That should keep me busy for a while, right?

I started a hat yesterday. I found the pattern online and worked on it for 2 hours. Almost finished it so since it was slow at work last night and since I do work at a craft store (yeah, not a lot of job opportunities on a foreign military post but the people are great and I get to indulge my hobbies), I finished it up. Here's the picture that the pattern designer posted. My hat is in black wool. Awesome.

I'm so amazed by Facebook and how easy it can be to connect with old friends and colleagues. A friend of mine from over 10 years ago found me on Facebook. So I added her. Then I get a look at her friends. OMG, some of them are people I knew way back when. So I sent a 'Remember me?' to them. How fun.

If I finish today, I'm heading into Bayreuth, a college town and the closest large city to us, to head to the yarn store there. I'll take some pictures and post them. I'm preparing for a trip this weekend. More details on that tomorrow.

So I'll leave you with a poll. I will be posting a new German recipe soon so please vote for your preference. It's on the left at the top. The poll will stay open until midnight PST (if I've figured out the time difference right).

What's on your mind today?

Fun Mish Mash

After the tirade of yesterday, I thought something fun was in order for today.

Delilah Devlin (check out her link to the left) nominated me for a prolific blogger award. Now it's my turn to nominate seven more. I'll be posting those lucky seven on Monday.

My friend, Bria, is having a Romance Yard Sale. She and her yard sale partner, MG, have some great stuff. T-shirts, mouse pads, coffee mugs, tote bags, etc. All with catchy phrases that will really resonate with writers (or editors). Phrases like – "I'm not crazy, I'm just plotting" or "what came first? The writing or the drinking?" Very cute stuff. Here's a link to her blog post. At the bottom of the post is a link to the goodies. Check it out. Buy something. http://romanceyardsale.wordpress.com/

Sarah, from my Outreach RWA chapter posted this link to the loop. I thought it was fun so I'm putting it here for all of you too. It's inspired by an article in The New York Times Magazine, it uses a simplified algorithm to predict the gender of an author. I don't know about you, but whenever I hear the word 'algorithm', I always think of Charlie on Numb3rs. Check it out. See if it predicts your gender. It got mine by a lot. http://bookblog.net/gender/genie.php

One of the Romance Divas posted a link earlier this week about How to Suck at Facebook. I checked it out and thought it was hilarious. This guy is really funny and you can spend hours at his sight reading all his comics. Here's How Twilight Works. So funny. Check it out. http://theoatmeal.com/story/twilight

That's it for today. Let me know if you check out any of this links and what you think about them. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Welcome to the Social Network Revolution

I've finally succumbed. Last year, I joined Facebook when I moved overseas to Germany. I told myself it would be the best way to keep up with family and friends. And I did. For about three months, I went to Facebook everyday. I even played with some of their applications. I found out that was a big time suck.

Now my visits to Facebook are infrequent, though I'm trying to remedy that. I started a fan page there. That was pretty cool. If you want to fan me, you can find me at http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Riley-Quinn/221823930058. I would love to see you there. I'll be posting updates about my writing there.

This year, I've added a Twitter account (RileyQuinn) and now this blog. I'm learning how to tweet effectively, thanks to my friend, Flicka. I'm making it one of my goals to follow through with my ventures. I hope you'll join me; it will keep me honest. ;)

Here I'll be talking about writing, life in Europe as an American, and just about anything else that piques my interest.

So what about you? Are you part of the Social Network Revolution? Which programs do you use? What do you like about them?
